Naksansa Temple is a Korean Buddhist temple complex that stands on the slopes of Naksan Mountain. It is located midway between Sokcho and Yangyang, Gangwon Province, eastern region of South Korea. Naksansa is one of the few temples in Korea to overlook the East Sea. This ancient temple was built in the 11th year of King Munmu’s reign of Silla (671) by the Buddhist monk Uisang. Naksansa Temple is one of the foremost sights of Yangyang, and one of the most historic sites in the region. With over 1300 years of history, many Buddhists from all over the country come to visit this famous cultural heritage site. Naksansa has been one of the most attractive places not only for Buddhists but also for foreigners in Korea.

Upon reaching Naksansa, a brief 15-minute walk will lead you to the temple grounds. Engage in a two-day, one-night program at Naksansa Temple, a renowned spiritual haven overlooking the East Sea.

The experience starts with check-in and an introduction to temple etiquette, followed by a guided exploration of the historic site, rich in over a thousand years of Buddhist heritage. Dinner consists of nourishing vegetarian temple cuisine, embodying the simplicity and mindfulness of monastic life. As night falls, you will partake in a serene chanting service, resonating with the peaceful environment. The day concludes with shared accommodations featuring ondol-style sleeping mats, a traditional Korean bedding arrangement.
