Itinerary

Upon arrival at Lombok International Airport, meet your guide and driver, who will be waiting to provide transport to your hotel. After checking in, relax along Senggigi Beach, located on the island’s east coast, with the afternoon and evening at leisure.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, meet your driver and depart towards Tetebatu on the southern slopes of Rinjani National Park. Before setting off on a trek, learn how coffee is roasted the traditional way in a wok over the fire. Enjoy a glass of freshly brewed coffee and trek across the rice fields, plantations and fruit gardens. Regardless of the season, farmers will be busy sowing, ploughing or harvesting, and a trek through the fields and forests gives some insight into the everyday life in a rural community. Pass a monkey forest, where with a bit of luck, it may be possible to see primates jumping from tree to tree before arriving at the scenic Tibu Topat waterfall.

Continue by car to Tetebatu village for lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to Loyok to meet a basket-making family for an introduction to the unique handicraft. The family is a typical example of many of Lombok’s residents stemming from diverse backgrounds all over Indonesia. There will be a chance to try the craft, producing some of the different patterns that are possible when weaving with the bamboo thread. Finally, continue to a village where roof tiles are produced from clay and become familiar with the different steps of producing a tile.

En route to the hotel, stop at some of the many roadside markets and taste some tropical fruit of the season, and return to the hotel in the late afternoon for the evening at leisure.

For those who are keen on getting away, this full-day excursion to the islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and Gili Kedis will do the trick. A short cruise will lead from island to island, where the day is free to soak up the beautiful beaches, dine on local dishes, visit pottery villages and snorkel in the fish and coral-filled waters off the shores.

Meet your driver after breakfast at your hotel, and take a short drive to the southwest coast, where a boat will head across the crystalline waters to more remote islands. The first stop is Gili Nanggu, a 30-minute boat ride from Lombok. White sandy beaches, palm trees, and even more stunning scenery can be found underwater, where a colourful sea garden and bountiful marine life fill the seas, making it a great place for snorkelling.

Midday, take a break from island exploring and head to the nearby Gili Sudak for a lunch of grilled fish in a very simple warung on the beach. Relax in the sands or stroll along the quiet beach before your next visit to Gili Kedis, a tiny island and yet another slice of paradise, where lunch can be enjoyed alternatively (depending on availability between the two places). For the more adventurous type, it is possible to swim from Gili Sudak to Gili Kedis.

Return to Lombok from Gili Kedis, where the car will be waiting at the port in Tanjungempet, and conveniently there is a chance to take a fresh water shower to rinse the salt before driving back to the hotel.
