Tour Description

Breathtaking encounters with the best of Sarawak’s indigenous tribes, flora and fauna.  See snub fin dolphins, explore the mangroves of the coastlines among crocodiles and proboscis monkeys.

Day 1: Upon arrival at Kuching International Airport your guide will assist you to transfer to your hotel and check-in.  At 1400hrs, depart from your hotel in the city to commence Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre situated about 30 minutes drive from Kuching.  It provides a rare opportunity to be at close range with the “Wild Man of Borneo” and to observe their behaviours and activities in their natural habitat. Before arriving at the feeding platform, you will have a brief experience walking through the amazing untouched rainforest.  After the visit transfer back to hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast, transfer to Damai Beach where you will board a boat which will take you for a 25minutes ride along the Coastline to the Mangroves of Sarawak. You will stop at the river mouth in search of the Irrawaddy (or Snub fin) Dolphins.  It surfaces in a rolling fashion and lifts its tail fluke clear of the water for a deep dive only. Irrawaddy Dolphins spit streams of water from their mouths whilst spy hopping. Observe the dolphins while they swimming around the boats of the local fishermen in search for food. Proceed with the boat along the Mangrove forest in search for Saltwater Crocodiles which can sometimes be seen on the Riverbank.  Another 45 minutes ride will bring you afterwards to the Satang Islands located off the coast of Santubong.  Packed lunch is provided on the island. Enjoy the beautiful view from the island, relax at the beach or go for a swim or snorkel in the clear water. On the return boat ride to Permai, pass by “Bird’s Rock”. After the tour return to your hotel and overnight.  (B, L) From October – March, sea conditions may not allow for the day trip and therefore, the day’s activities will be substituted with a City and Museum Tour, followed by lunch and a visit to the Sarawak Cultural Village *Please note that the boat and Islands excursions are on shared basis to minimise the environmental impact of boats in the fragile mangrove areas of Damai.

Day 3: In the morning meet your guide in the hotel lobby and start your journey to the Longhouse Safari along the Pan Borneo Highway A short stop will be made at Serian town (60 km from Kuching) where you can explore the market where the locals selling fruits and vegetables. From Serian your trip will bring you to Lachau where you will have your lunch and the opportunity to buy presents for the Iban families in the Longhouse. After lunch in Lachau your onward journey will bring you to the Batang Ai jetty from where you will cross the lake by boat to the Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort.  Check-in and overnight at resort. Day 4: ABF. At 0900/0930 hrs, board a boat across the Batang Ai Lake to reach an original Iban longhouse. Tour the longhouse, watch the natives while they organize their daily chores, witness cockfighting and blowpipe demonstrations, and enjoy a ‘native style’ lunch. Return to the resort in the early afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the resort. (B, L, D)

Day 5:  At 0745/0830hrs, depart to Kuching, with a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Upon arrival, estimated in mid-afternoon, transfer to the hotel or to the airport. (B/L) Onward flights from Kuching should not depart earlier than 1730 hrs. (B, L)
