Tour Description

Our 11 day Cambodia in Depth tour allows you to uncover the country’s culture and historical artefacts through various outdoor activities. Start in Siem Ream with a bird’s eye view of Angkor Wat on a helium balloon. You will also visit local villages, explore less visited temples, and enjoy a boat ride along the Mekong River. Kick back in the country’s beautiful and unspoiled beach resort in Sihanoukville before returning to Phnom Penh and a relaxed exploration of the capital city.

Day 1 – Arrive in Siem Reap – You will be greeted by your guide, who will accompany you to your hotel for check in. Get a first glimpse of Angkor today at the early temples of the Roluos Group. Roluos is the site of an ancient centre of Khmer civilization known as Hariharalaya. Enjoy a traditional Khmer Welcome dinner at The Sugar Palm, set on the terrace of a typical wooden house. (D)

Day 2 – Siem Reap – After breakfast, discover some main Angkor sites on a leisurely bicycle ride. First head to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, then proceed to Bayon Temple in the exact centre of the city. Stroll through the grounds of the former Royal Palace to discover small hidden temples that are rarely visited. Spend the early afternoon exploring Siem Reap’s colourful markets, and end your day with a tour to the temples of the Small Circuit by local ‘remork’ (similar to the Thai tuk tuk). (B)

Day 3 – Siem Reap – Start early to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, then, travel to the countryside to see pretty temple
of Banteay Srey. Continue north to Kbal Spean, one of the earliest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Cambodia, on return to Siem Reap stop at the Landmine Museum and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B, L)

Day 4 – Siem Reap to Battambang – After an early breakfast, embark on a private boat that will take you on a fascinating journey across Tonlé   Sap Lake to Battambang. This afternoon, explore some of the many cultural villages around
Battambang before enjoying dinner at Pomme d’Amour mixing French and Khmer cuisine. (B, L, D)

Day 5 – Battambang – Spend the morning on a tour that combines walking, a boat ride and then cycling along and across the Sangke  River to experience Battambang daily life. In the afternoon head to the Bamboo Train station you will travel the 8 km to the next station through beautiful landscape and rice paddies (depending on season of visit). After head towards Phnom Sampeau Sampeau is home to the notorious killing caves, which are cruel reminders of Cambodia’s troubled past. (B)

Day 6 – Battambang to Phnom Penh – Depart Battambang early for the 5 1/2 hour drive to Phnom Penh. During the journey enjoy visits to Kampong Chhnang, and Oudong, the former royal capital of Cambodia, before a late afternoon arrival in Phnom Penh. (B, L)

Day 7 – Phnom Penh – This morning visit the sights of Phnom Penh in a Cyclo, first, head to the Royal Palace, next stop is the National Museum. For lunch you will be treated to a delicious Khmer meal at Le Lotus Blanc restaurant. After lunch pay a visit to the fascinating Russian Market before finishing the afternoon at Wat Phnom. Enjoy dinner at the renowned Foreign Correspondents’ Club and the menu is à la carte with a good selection of both Western and Asian dishes. (B, L, D)

Day 8 – Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville – After breakfast transfer to the beach resort of Sihanoukville (duration 4 hours). Arrive around midday and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 9 – Sihanoukville – Enjoy your day at leisure or enjoy with the optional tour. (B)

Day 10 – Sihanoukville – Enjoy your day at leisure or enjoy an optional tour. (B)

Day 11 – Sihanoukville return to Phnom Penh – This afternoon you will transfer back with driver only to Phnom Penh. (B)
